Great 2019 - Looking forward to more discoveries in 2020!
It has been a while since we have updated this site. Here are some highlights from the close of 2019! For more real-time updates follow us on Twitter!
Kelly Even finished her MS in Health Communication (Aug. 24, 2019) and left the Laronda Lab to be at Embryologist at Northwestern Medicine's Reproductive Infertility and Andrology Clinic (Sept. 2019). Kelly was important part of jump-starting the Laronda Lab and we wish her many successes!
We welcomed Grace Schwartz as a new Research Technologist II in Oct. 2019!
The FHPR team hosted their First Annual Patient/Family Luncheon! We launched some Lurie Children's FHPR educational videos for fertility preservation procedures and updated patients and families on the program, including ongoing research projects. We thank all who participated and appreciated patient feedback.
The Artificial Ovary patent was issued to MM Laronda, A Rutz, R Shah and TK Woodruff in Nov. 2019!
Research Presentations:
Dr. Laronda (@mmlaronda) presented the lab's work at:
ART World Congress in New York
Chaired a session with Kyle Orwig on Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cells at the annual American Society for Reproductive Medicine Conference in Philadelphia, PA
International Conference on Biofabrication in Columbus, OH
Ovarian Club Meeting in Paris, France
INSERM - Workshop on 3D Bioprinting and Biofabrication in Bordeaux, France
Nicole Handa gave an oral presentation at American Society for Reproductive Medicine Conference in Philadelphia, PA titled: Parent Comprehension in Video-Based Education for Pediatric Fertility Preservation and received encouraging feedback from the audience!
Dr. Courtney Harris has been representing FHPR research at several conferences:
Association of Women Surgeons Annual Conference in San Francisco, CA Presence of Follicles in the Discarded Processing Media in Pediatric Ovarian Tissue Cryopreservation
American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress in San Francisco, CA Evaluation of Tertiary Care Pediatric Hospitals for Presence of Ovarian Tissue Cryopreservation Program.
Society for Pediatric Urology Fall Congress in Scotsdale, AZ Establishing an Institutional Gonadal Tissue Cryopreservation Protocol for Patients with Differences of Sex Development
The Laronda Lab and FHPR were well-represented at the 2019 Oncofertility Consortium Conference and the Illinois Symposium on Reproductive Medicine in Chicago, IL
